The problem with the resin cast stators is that the leads emerge at 90 degrees to the casting and in the case of my bike, a Norton Dominator, hit the outer chain-case. The situation is not helped by the fact that the bike is fitted with a bet drive, which alters the positions of the chain-case and alternator. The previous stator wires had become damaged, I had modified them, and it had seen 22 years of service. I have made some other mods and all is well, the system showing a charge during running.
